Because you can't be fighting like hell to maintain the status quo while calling yourself progressive.

pro·gres·sive:  favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters: a progressive mayor.

    I'm afraid I see Hassan and some other Democrats fall into the category of being rather regressive. Taking the Pledge is one example. Progressive is understanding that being civilized is helping the less fortunate and those struggling and in hopeless situations. In other words CARING. Something the right has no iota of empathy or understanding of. To them it is a case of THEY THE RABBLE. We heard it right out of the horses mouth (likely the same one raced at the London Olympics by Mrs. $Romneybags.
